Renardat-Fache

The teeny-tiny Bugey appellation is quite literally at a crossroads: Jura and Burgundy are to the north, Rhône is to the south, Beaujolais to the west and Savoie to the east. Borrowing a bit from each of these regions, the varieties grown here include gamay, poulsard and chardonnay. Domaine Renardat-Fâche are widely regarded as the best producer in Bugey, and for very good reason.

Chardonnay Mousseux 'En Blanc Aussi'

A gorgeous, lithe sparkling chardonnay in a brut nature style. Like the Cerdon, this is made using the méthode ancestrale, but left on the lees for a year for added savoury complexity.

Bugey Cerdon Méthode Ancestrale

The out-and-out star of the Bugey region, this sparkling pink wine is made using the methode ancestrale, where the wine is bottled with some unfermented sugar and active yeast, allowing the fermentation to continue in the bottle. The lack of secondary fermentation means the wine has more fruity, grapey aromas than tradtional method sparkling wines.

‘Au Commencement’

On the nose, it releases a complex and refined aromatic bouquet, with fruity notes of green apple, pear, and floral nuances of wisteria and lavender. On the palate, the wine stands out for its freshness and liveliness, with a vibrant acidity that emphasizes its harmonious structure. The fresh fruit flavors integrate perfectly with subtle mineral notes, offering a balanced and persistent taste experience. Like their Cerdon bu Bugey, their "Au Commencement" Vin de France is also a pink méthode ancestrale wine; but there are key differences: a higher proportion of Poulsard, much less residual sugar and much higher alcohol.

‘Comme dans la Cave a Meme’

'Comme Dans La Cave a Mémé' roughly translates to 'just like in Grandma's cellar,' which speaks to the simple, old-fashioned pleasure of this thirst-quenching heart-warmer and also the fact that this wine ages in old foudres in his grandmothers cellar. a festive wine that wafts black cherry, black pepper and a hint of wax while that black cherry explodes on the palate.
