Thirteen generations of the Caslot family have been devoted to crafting wine in Bourgueil, their roots in the Touraine region and deep connection to Cabernet Franc running as far back as the 17th century. Today, Domaine de la Chevalerie is led by siblings Laurie and Emmanuel Caslot, continuing the work of their late sister Stéphanie, whom they still honour as an integral part of the estate’s winemaking soul. The domaine is made up of a patchwork of distinct terroirs, varied in soil composition, exposure, and character, all farmed according to biodynamic principles. Beneath the vineyards lies a vast underground cellar, a labyrinthine network of tunnels carved into the soft tuffeau stone of an ancient quarry. Here, the wines age slowly and naturally, their calm maturation reflecting the same patience and precision that define every stage of Domaine de la Chevalerie’s meticulous vinification. The result is wines with a classic allure, full of energy and extremely drinkable.
