Bodegas Alvear
This is stuff of legend! Founded in 1729, they have been making for centuries some of the most astonishing wines in the Monilla-Moriles DO, the Pedro Ximénez kingdom. The vineyards are located on the mountains around Cordoba at an altitude of 600mt asl on Albariza soil, the same that dominates in the neighbouring region of Jerez. This, in combination with the altitude, help managing the rustic character typical of PX grapes, and gives wines of extreme elegance, depth and complexity. In recent years, they joined forces with Envinate to create the Tres Miradas project, that aims to express the full potential of the Sierra de Montilla terroir focusing more on the vineyard rather than the ageing process.
3 Miradas Clasicos ‘La Viña de Antoñin’
A blended wine from different plots in the Sierra de Montilla, of Superior Quality, made with Pedro Ximénez grapes from old, bush-trained vines in the Rio Frío Alto and Cerro Macho areas. In each plot, the grapes were either pressed directly and fermented in amphorae, or alternatively, foot-trodden and fermented in open vats. In all cases, the wine was then aged in the same amphorae, of 150 and 300 liters, under a veil of flor for 8 months.

3 Miradas Clasicos ‘Cherro Macho’’
A blended wine from different plots in the Sierra de Montilla, of Superior Quality, made with Pedro Ximénez grapes from old, bush-trained vines in the Rio Frío Alto and Cerro Macho areas. In each plot, the grapes were either pressed directly and fermented in amphorae, then aged in the same amphorae, of 150 and 300 liters, under a veil of flor for 8 months.
Ample, balanced, with well-integrated acidity and fruity notes characteristic of the variety, ripe apple.

Fino ‘Capataz’
Made from the Pedro Ximénez grape variety, this wine comes from the Solera of the Casa de Alvear winery, where Alvear stores its oldest wines. It is the oldest fino wine that Alvear ages.under velo de flor for an average of 12 years in the system of soleras & criaderas, it still maintains a vibrant veil of flor. It walks the fine line between older "finos" and younger "amontillados."

Amontillado ‘Carlos VII’ 375cl
Alvear Amontillado Carlos VII is the family's most emblematic Amontillado, produced in the classic style of Montilla-Moriles, as an extremely old Fino that was produced without fortification. The wine is produced from Pedro Ximénez base wine fermented to 15% (without fortification) in tinaja. After winter, wines are classified for ageing, and wine destined for Amontillado Carlos VII will be aged for an average of 30 years in the system of soleras & criaderas - first under velo de flor and oxidatively after the flor dies.

Oloroso ‘Asunción’ 375cl
Alvear Oloroso Asunción is the winery’s most emblematic Oloroso. This is a classic Oloroso, which is produced from Pedro Ximénez base wine fermented to 15% in tinaja. After winter, wines are classified for aging and subsequently fortified (to prevent the growth of flor), before being submitted to an average of 30 years of ageing in the system of soleras & criaderas. Before being racked to barrel, the wine is sweetened (10 g/L) with PX sweet wine, to provide a gentle roundness on the palate to balance this Oloroso's powerful profile on the palate.

Pedro Ximénez ‘1927’
Alvear Pedro Ximénez Solera 1927 is the family's sweet Pedro Ximénez. A classic Solera aged Pedro Ximénez sweet wine from a Solera that was founded in the wine's eponymous year. The grapes, which are harvested green, are sun dried on straw mats for a week before being pressed in a traditional olive oil press. The incredibly sweet must decants in concrete tinajas, and are fortified up to 16% ABV.
