Domaine Gramenon
Run by the inimitable Michèle Aubéry-Laurent with her son Maxime, Domaine Gramenon has reached cult status for its staunchly traditionalist yet innovative wines. Sustainability is at the heart of the operation, extending from the vineyards to the farming of vegetables and animals. We will let them sum up their approach, possibly the best expression of low-intervention winemaking we have ever heard: “As purity remains the ever inaccessible and unrealistic target, we are just aiming at expressing the very best, without betraying the terroir and the grapes, while best adapting to the differences of the vintage.”
Côtes du Rhône Rouge ‘L’Emouvante’
pure Syrah made from the same parcels that produce La Sagesse. The combination of limestone, sand, and clay soils, along with 100% whole-cluster vinification and aging in neutral barrels, gives a Syrah of rare breed, especially this far south. Deep, concentrated, and refreshingly saline.
